Back in 2009, I applied and received a secured credit card from First Premier Bank. I purchased a couple small items with it and began to notice very quickly that no matter when I sent my payment in I would receive a late fee of $25.00!

I understand the principle of a secured credit card and think when the theory is applied correctly it's a good idea but this was wrong. After months of watching my balance go up and up with late fees, I finally just stopped paying. The measley $60 - $70 dollars I spent on the card was nothing to the $25 fees each month and the money I was losing from payments not being posted correctly to my account. Seeing as it was my money they were charging me to use, I finally said forget it!

Years later I'm looking at my credit and guess who is on there? Yep! I couldn't believe it and not only were they on my credit but they were charging me the full $280. My security deposit was $250 and they shut down the card when it reached $280.

They didn't even *** the $250 that I paid them to get the card in the first place. After looking into it a bit by calling the company to see what was up with that, I was told that it was "highly unlikely" that I had a secured credit card back in 2009 because they weren't giving out that many back then. What the heck does that mean?!! "Highly unlikely" and "not that many" so it's not possible?!

Really? Someone had to get the first 100 cards and the first 1000 cards right so it didn't even make sense to me what he (Josh) was trying to say to me.

Anyways, I've ordered bank statements back from 2009 to prove it and get it off my credit for good and if they tick me off enough I'll go to the Consumer Credit Reporting Agency and cause a huge fuss about false credit reporting. If anyone else is having the same types of issues let me know, it'll help in the long run.
